Not too late for Resolutions

I’m a firm believer in resolutions.

The start of a new year is like a blank slate full of possibilities. It’s a fresh opportunity to become who and what you want to be. Of course, the truth is, you can make changes any time, but there’s something about January 1 that feels like a reset button for everything.

If you have a desire to grow, improve, or accomplish something this year, resolutions are worth considering. They help keep us focused, provide clarity for our journey, and offer motivation as the year unfolds. When shared with others, they bring accountability. Ultimately, resolutions can lead to the personal growth you’re aiming for.

Resolutions don’t need to be monumental. They should be challenging, but achievable. Specific, but not too limiting. For example, "I want to lose weight" is a challenging and doable goal, but it’s not specific enough. A more effective resolution might include a plan, like joining a gym or committing to a fitness program.

New Year, New You?

You’ve likely heard the phrase, “New year, new you.” I understand the desire behind it. January 1 offers a fresh start in many ways. But here’s the truth: it’s not about becoming a completely new person by December 31.

I’m not being pessimistic, nor am I suggesting you won’t achieve your goals. What I mean is that you, as you are right now, are already enough. The idea is to be a little better than you were when the year began.

Only you can define what "better" looks like for you. That’s why I’m such a believer in resolutions. And the new year is a perfect time to set them.

The year has already started and you may have not yet made your resolutions. Don’t worry—you haven’t missed out. In fact, you’ve already started with one resolution: that you will create a list of resolutions!

Here are a few of my resolutions for 2025:

Relationships

I want to prioritize my relationship with Vicki every day. This means taking actions that show her she’s my top priority. It also means eliminating behaviors that make her feel anything less than that. The specifics of this are between us, but I’m committed to making our connection a daily focus.

Health

I’m committed to continuing my journey of prioritizing health and strength. I’ve already been working on this, although the holidays were a bit of a challenge. I’ll keep running, strength training, and sticking to a paleo diet, which works well for me. I didn’t realize how bad I felt until I started feeling better with a nutrition plan that suits me. For me, focusing on the right habits naturally leads to healthy weight management.

Business

This year, my real estate and coaching businesses are going to grow. I’ve embraced the word “thrive” for 2025, and I’m focusing on thriving in both areas. I’ve developed a clear business plan to make it happen, and so far, the year is off to a promising start.

Passionate Pursuits

I’m excited to make time for things that bring me joy, like vacations and weekend getaways with my family, as well as fly fishing, hiking, and tackling some of Colorado’s tallest peaks. I’ll be more specific by putting dates on the calendar for these adventures. There are more goals in this category that I may share down the road.

So, here’s to taking steps forward in 2025—small but steady progress toward the best version of yourself. Let’s thrive in 2025!
